RE: '08 Ford F-350: 3.55 vs. 3.73 rear end

Ford now does offer the 350 with a 3.55 rear end. I have the 3.73 and my trailer is close to yours in size and weight and it is a great cobination.

RE: What's the difference between

Something no one has talked about is check with your state on the registration. In Minnesota a new 1 ton will cost a little over $100.00 to buy plates for. A 3/4 ton will cost almost $400.00. Don't ask me why.

RE: Office In a Fifth Wheel?

Kakampers, I'm not saying I won't right off my camper. I'm saying Jayco has a written policy that I'm sure most it not all buyers don't know about until after they become owners.

RE: Office In a Fifth Wheel?

I was disappointed to find out after we bought our new Jayco that if we used it for business which for us is answering the telephone to take a reservation our warrantee would be void.

RE: Inspection of 2008 F-350, 6.4L Diesel

I was looking at some pictures a neighbor took of the floods in Cedar Rapids Iowa earlier this summer. The thing I noticed was the number of cars and trucks that were left flooded. When asked about it the commit was it was a way to get rid of a gas guzzler.

RE: TV Regeneration?

One thing that has not been mentioned is the importance of using ULSD fuel in the newer trucks. Using LSD should not hurt your motor but will plug up your DPF and may cost big bucks to replace. I know, were all suppose to know this already.

RE: Lowering Ford pickups?

So are you guys saying you can lower the back and do nothing to the front and still have a level truck? I have an 08 F/350 4X4 that does have the snow plow prep package, what do you think?

RE: Will the Ford Super Duty Survive?

My 2008 XL has power windows and door locks, chrome bumpers. I bought the chrome grill on Ebay so it looks like an XLT.

Mine has a sag where the expanding foam that was used pushed it down.

RE: Hood vent do you have one?

On the Jayco Desinger If you get the standard microwave it's vented to the outside. If you opt. for the convection oven it is vented into the camper. Jayco does this only because the holes in the back of the microwave and convection over are in different places on the back of the units and they only build the wall one way. If your unit is mounted to the wall you can take down your micro wave which is probably only 4 bolts. The mounting plate attached to the wall should have the cut out for the outside vent. If your brave enough to cut a hole in the side of the camper do so. I would suggest you only cut the surface panel first to make sure there is nothing behind it like wires or frame. You have to add a vent to the outside of course and redirecting the vent on the microwave should be as easy as removing a plate flipping it over and reattaching it. I just did this to my convection oven.

RE: Must See Things in North Dakota

There was a story about ND on TV last week. At Medora they went to a steak fry where the steaks were put on pitch forks and deep fried. About half way across the state you will see a big metal sculpture that I believe is called geese flying. Down the road a bit the guy has all kinds of work he has done. The Bad Lands of western ND can be entertaining and the Flying J at Beach has great cookies. Watch out for the dip in the road at Valley City.

RE: To all 5ver drivers, a ? 4 U.

I have an 08 F/350 srw 4x4 and a Jayco 35 RLSA that has an empty weight of 12,244 pounds. The listed pin weight is 2400 something. I believe the manufactures number are conservative and my pin weight is closer to 3000 pounds. Our truck has bottomed out when we hit a dip on the freeway that wasn't marked, in fact this has happened a couple of times. For mileage we have seen a low of 9.9 to a high of 12 miles per gallon pulling in the Midwest. My truck has the 373 rear end and is available with DRW which would give you your best gas mileage. At my house a DWR truck would not go into my pole barn which may be a consideration for you. Having never pulled with DRW I guess I don't know what I'm missing and it's not like I have to be anywhere anyways.

RE: Jayco Designer

Thanks everyone. I sort of feel the same way about having it fixed. It would be easy to slice it open remove the problem and put a patch on it. I don't like that idea but I will have it looked at and documented at least.

RE: Landing Gear Switch Cover

I've seen many campers with the front landing gear switch mounted on the exterior of the camper. I have to believe that driving in rain will eventually take it's toll on these. Mine is mounted inside the front compartment so I have to open a door to get to it. Another idea would be to install a remote unit. Alta makes one that's easy to install, it also happens to be what Jayco uses when ordered.

Jayco Designer

I have a question about my roof. I have a 2008 35 RLSA and was up on the roof and noticed a couple of things I had not seen before. I should also say this is the first time I actually got up on the roof. First I had a couple of bubbles that seemed to go away when I rubbed them. Second it appears there are a couple of spots where something sharp is under the rubber roof. In both cases they are towards the edge where some kind of support is underneath the roof. And third by our rear AC unit right in front of the ladder there is a seam where it looks like the second section is sticking, like it's a thickness higher. I know this should be looked at by a dealer, I'm wondering if any of you have had similar experiences and how they were fixed.

RE: Smaller pickups

I got 50 miles to a gallon back in 1981 when my wife came home with a brand new diesel Chevette. The only problem we had was the 30 miles to work. The car would be just as cold inside when I got to work as when I started out. That didn't cut it in Minnesota.
Right now you can buy a brand new F150 for $12,000.00 manual or an automatic for $13,000.00 and they still only get 20 mpg. with a six cylinder. Look on Ebay.

RE: COST of new 5er

Don't be afraid to look on Ebay to compare prices and floor plans. After we decided what we wanted we bid on one only to have the reserve not met which was ok because it wasn't the interior color my wife wanted. The guy said no problem lets order one. With Jayco you can get the msrp on there web site by building what you want. We did get 30% off our Designer and if your happy with that life is good. Just don't be in a hurry to buy!

RE: Very Interesting......future trucks

As a life long GM owner I bought a new F350 6 months ago mostly because I didn't like the looks of the current GM trucks, especially that front bumper on the bigger Chevy.

RE: New truck sales?

On ebay today a dealer in Missouri is selling a new F150 for $12,000.00. Sure it's a six cylinder with manual transmission but it has air. Claims to have 150 F150's in stock. He had about 30 built this way or for a grand more you can get an automatic. Also claimed to sell 500 to 600 cars and trucks a month.
